NAQT South SCT Results

Oklahoma Academic Team sent three teams, one in Division I and two in Division II, to the NAQT South Sectional Championship Tournament held at the University of Tulsa and hosted by Oklahoma State on Saturday, February 10. In Division I, Texas-Austin won the open title, and Harding won the undergraduate title. In Division II, both Oklahoma teams and Missouri-Rolla tied after two tiebreaker round robins and were declared co-champions.

Oklahoma A (Ryan Grabowski, Brian Morrow, Jamie Powers, and Donovan Wood) finished in fourth place in Division I with a 6-6 record after competing in a double round robin. Jamie was eighth-highest scorer with 29.58 points per game, and Ryan was tenth-highest with 24.17 points per game.

Oklahoma B (Kevin Bagnall, David Gagne, Ted Swang, and Chris Terrill) and Oklahoma C (Erin Cooper, Emily Duda, Matthew King, and Sarah Yost) finished tied for first place with Missouri-Rolla, as described above, with 9-2 records after the playoffs in Division II. Each team won twice and lost twice during the two tiebreaker round robins. Matthew was second-highest scorer with 52.11 points per game, David was third-highest with 50.00 PPG, and Emily was tenth-highest with 34.09 PPG. At the time that this entry was published, it was unknown if either or both Oklahoma teams would be awarded bids for the NAQT Intercollegiate Championship Tournament.

The next tournament for the Oklahoma Academic Team is ACF Regionals on February 17 at the University of Tulsa.
