It's time to dust off the old blog and start posting updates and results for the 2007-2008 season. On Saturday, September 29, Oklahoma Academic Team held Route 66 Classic 13. Unlike previous incarnations, which used questions from the NAQT Invitational Series, this edition was a mirror of Early Fall Tournament 2 at Brown University.
Nine teams (three from Tulsa, two apiece from Harding and Kansas State, and one house team) competed in a nine-game round robin. At the end of the round robin, the top four teams (Harding A, Kansas State A, Texas-Austin, and Tulsa) were placed in a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion. In the championship match, Harding A defeated Texas-Austin 205-170, and Tulsa A beat Kansas State A 190-20 to claim third place.
The top scorers in the round robin were Matthew Nance (Texas-Austin), Jason Loy (Harding A), Nathaniel Russell (Tulsa A), Robert Hayes (Oklahoma), and Sam Neal (Kansas State A). Statistics for the round robin are at http://www.ou.edu/student/okacf/results/r66_13_standings.html, and statistics for the playoffs are at http://www.ou.edu/student/okacf/results/r66_13_playoffs_standings.html.
Thanks to everyone who attended this tournament. The next tournament for Oklahoma Academic Team was slated to be Golden Hurricane Open 3 on Saturday, October 6, but the team will not be able to attend. Therefore, the next tournament for OAT will be a mirror of the Center of the Known Universe Open, a tournament at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, on October 20.
